Activists sprayed orange paint on a business jet parked at Sylt Airport in Germany.
Five climate activists cut through the airport’s perimeter fence and sprayed latex paint onto a Citation CJ1+.
One operator familiar with the incident says that paint has been found in the aircraft’s engines and pictures issued by the campaigners show this looks likely.
The local police have launched a criminal investigation.
This is the third time that environmental protestors have reached business jets in Europe in the last six months. In November more than 100 protestors were arrested at Schipol Airport in the Netherlands. One aircraft was damaged. In May 103 protestors were arrested for breaking into the static aircraft display at EBACE at Geneva Airport.
The aircraft is privately owned and registered in Austria.
The protestors were from an environmental campaign group called Last Generation.
