Babcock Spain opens new delivery center in Albacete

Babcock Spain has opened its new delivery center located in the company’s Maintenance Center of Excellence in Albacete. This custom-built space, designed with the aim of providing a VIP experience to customers during the delivery of their aircraft, has an area of 750 square meters and can accommodate up to two helicopters simultaneously, making it a unique place to respond to the current needs of its customers.

The new space has all the comforts so that the aircraft delivery process, which can take several days, is a satisfactory experience and allows the client to focus all their attention on supervising the work carried out.

“For Babcock Spain, the creation of this delivery center represents another step in the company’s strategy of providing customers not only with the best repair and maintenance service, but also with an experience that makes them feel at home during their visit,” said Jacobo Landeira, director of business development for defense & UAVs at Babcock Spain.

The maintenance center in Albacete has 14 bays to maintain 14 helicopters consecutively. It’s from here that more than 110 highly qualified maintenance technicians and support personnel perform virtually all maintenance and repair tasks to 31 different helicopter models, without relying on third parties.

In addition to numerous auxiliary workshops, such as sheet metal, blades, composite, avionics and survival, the Centre also has two simulators, one for the continuous training of pilots and the other for medical personnel on duty throughout the country.

Collaboration with the Slovenian Air Forces SAF

This February, Babcock Spain inaugurated the delivery center with the delivery of a Slovenian Air Forces SAF helicopter maintained at its facilities. This has now returned to Slovenia piloted by two pilots from its armed forces after the commissioning and subsequent commissioning flight. This delivery is part of a series of four helicopters delivered to Babcock in the last year for maintenance for the Slovenian Air Force.

Babcock Spain has been collaborating with the Slovenian Air Forces SAF (Slovenian Armed Forces) for two years through the NATO Support and Acquisition Agency (NSPA). This collaboration is based on a 3-year framework contract and covers the repair and maintenance of helicopters that operate under military regulations and are registered in the National Military Registry of Aircraft.

The services that Babcock Spain provides within this framework include activities such as inspection of the structure of a helicopter, inspection of associated engines, revision of components, implementation of service bulletins (SB), implementation of the airworthiness directive AD (EASA, FAA, NMAA), OTL parts replacement, avionics testing, ground and flight testing, and could also cover other on-demand services such as painting and aircraft transportation.

This press release was prepared and distributed by Babcock.
