A Boeing 787 Dreamliner, piloted by Argentinian doctor and filmmaker Enrique Piñeyro, is helping to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, following the Russian invasion.
The Dreamliner P4-787, listed on The Registry of Aruba, made several evacuation flights last week from Poland to Italy to ferry refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine. The previous week, the aircraft carried 200 refugees from Poland to Spain. Inbound flights carried humanitarian aid from Argentina and other sources to support refugees in Poland.
Piñeyro initially flew the Dreamliner from Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Sunday, March 20th, bound for Warsaw, Poland. He is the founder of non-profit organisation Solidaire, which works with Spanish refugee charity Open Arms.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time Piñeyro has deployed aircraft on humanitarian missions. During the coronavirus pandemic last year, he led another humanitarian flight on behalf of Solidaire to deliver several tons of food to alleviate famine in Mozambique.
