Business aviation 'supergroup' launches Vulcan Aviation

Three senior executives are joining forces to launch Vulcan Aviation as a full-service, global business aviation company.

Trevor Esling, until recently regional senior vice president of sales for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, is joining forces with Roger Whyte, former senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing at Cessna Aircraft Company and Barry Johnson, CEO of Executive Jet Charter.

Esling told Corporate Jet Investor: “The idea of doing something by myself with a group of other really seasoned aviation professionals was pretty exciting. Under a globally accomplished leadership team, Vulcan Aviation gives owners a rare advantage in aircraft sourcing, negotiations and in maximising the benefits of ownership.”

Vulcan wanted to launch towards the end of the pandemic, rather than the middle, now Esling said he is seeing “light at the end of tunnel” in terms of the covid situation. “We were really building a head of steam in terms of sales in the early part of 2002 at Gulfstream, so you could see the market was humming. What we’ve had in between is a hiatus because of the pandemic, but now the economy seems to be bouncing back. As they say, never bet against the central banks.”

Whyte, director, Vulcan added: “Trevor, Barry and I have held senior leadership positions in several of the world’s foremost OEMs and flight departments, negotiated some of the industry’s largest deals and built trusted relationships with many of the world’s most sophisticated aircraft owners and operators. This gives us a formidable array of knowledge, skills and connections to wield on behalf of clients.”

Johnson, director, Vulcan said: “Vulcan Aviation offers a highly bespoke and relationship-based approach to corporate and private owners, founded on a wealth of international management and operational experience. I look forward to bringing my 30-plus years of operations management experience and high levels of customer service to our clients.”

From its headquarters at Farnborough Airport, Vulcan Aviation will support clients at every stage of the aircraft ownership journey, from acquisitions and sales to management, operations and maintenance. Esling said having seen the “increasing complexity of the environment” to buy an aircraft and operate it offering a full-service range was a logical step.

Vulcan Aviation’s global reach is supported by its alliances with top aircraft brokers worldwide. For further information please visit here.
