CJIQ cover story spotlight falls on Thomas Flohr, Vistajet

Thomas Flohr, founder and CEO of VistaJet, stars on the front cover of the latest edition of Corporate Jet Investor Quarterly (CJIQ).

In our exclusive interview, Flohr explains why he believes his company and the business jet industry in general have recently passed a tipping point. Vista Group started the year with two major acquisitions – Air Hamburg and Jet Edge. But that doesn’t mark the end of his plans for expansion as he grows the company to meet new market demand.

Flohr also explains why he is determined the business will stay in private hands. Just don’t call him part of the jet industry establishment. “As soon as you think you are part of the establishment, it is the beginning of the end,” he tells us. Read the full feature in The vision for VistaJet.

Private jet connectivity also features in our CJIQ Quarter 2, 2022 edition, as part of our feature on In-flight connectivity: In six key questions. We teamed up with connectivity specialist Inmarsat to chart industry views revealed in answers to six questions to our exclusive survey. As part of this feature we profile 12 leading connectivity providers and probe their views about what principals demand from connectivity systems on their private jets.

Nearly half of respondents to one survey question considered inflight connectivity would become more important for principals over the next 12 months. It’s also a trend noted by Jetcraft in our profile Jetcraft: Celebrating its 60th birthday  The company prides itself on being “a big little company”. We hear why from Chad Anderson, CEO, Jahid Fazal-Karim, owner and chairman of the Board, and Charles ‘Bucky’ Oliver, founder and chairman emeritus, who also all look ahead 10 years to the future of the company and the industry its serves.

Business aviation bids au revoir to Leo Knaapen who, after more than 30 years with Bombardier, has stepped down from his role as chief – Industry Affairs. Read the full story in the article Leo Knaapen: “Serve, lead and represent”.
