Embraer's order backlog 'biggest since Q2 2018'

Embraer’s order backlog is the biggest since second quarter (Q2) of 2018. Totalling $17bn, the backlog was up over $2bn from the close of 2020. The Brazilian OEM published its Q4 and full-year 2021 results today, which also saw the company exceed last year’s business jet delivery total, despite delivering fewer aircraft in Q4 2021 than during the same period in 2020.

Embraer delivered 39 business jets in Q4 2021, of which 26 were light and 13 mid-size. This is down four on last year’s total of 43 business jet deliveries – 23 light and 20 large.

However, the firm delivered a total of 93 business jets in 2021 – — 62 light and 31 mid-size. That was an increase of seven jets compared with the 86 business jets, 56 light and 30 large, delivered across 2020.

Elsewhere in the quarter, Embraer and NetJets signed an agreement for up to 100 additional Phenom 300s in a deal worth more than $1.2bn. NetJets is due to take delivery of the Phenom 300E in the second quarter of 2023.

Embraer also delivered a new Phenom 300E in Quito, Ecuador, marking the first delivery of the aircraft type in the Latin American country. The firm also delivered the first Praetor 500 in Canada to fractional specialist, AirSprint Private Aviation.
