Gulfstream renews-SAF agreement, now over 1.2M gallons delivered

Gulfstream Aerospace has now taken delivery of more than 1.2m gallons of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from World Fuel Services since the two firms partnered in 2015. When World Fuel and Gulfstream entered into a multiyear agreement it was the first of its kind in business aviation, now Gulfstream has extended the terms for an additional five years through to April 2025.

Mark Burns, President, Gulfstream, stated: “The renewal of our contract with World Fuel is another step forward in our company’s decades-long history and commitment to promoting environmental sustainability in the aviation industry. Together with World Fuel and World Energy, we continue our drive toward carbon emissions reduction using SAF and encourage others to consider reducing their impact as well.”

Since the original agreement, Gulfstream has used of some of the fuel to fly over 650 flights with an SAF and Jet-A fuel blend. Gulfstream reported that this reduced carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1,700 tonnes on these flights. The remainder of the fuel was delivered to the company’s California facilities.

Steve Drzymalla, Senior Vice President for Business Aviation Bulk Fuel, World Fuel Services, said: “We are honoured to continue with our commitment and investment in Gulfstream’s push toward an environmentally sustainable future through our steady supply of SAF, and look forward to continuing the relationship well into the future.”

Meanwhile, NetJets recently announced it is to take up to 3m gallons of SAF from Signature Flight Support. The FBO has partnered with fuel refiner, Neste, to deliver 5m gallons to two of Signature’s airport bases – San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and London-Luton Airport (LTN). NetJets is the launch customer and will take up to 60% of this initial SAF supply. The deal agreed between Signature and Neste for the biofuel is the largest ever by an FBO.
