A Bombardier Global 6500 which landed at Farnborough Airport on March 4th, 2022 has been impounded by the UK government over alleged links to a Russian oligarch.
The jet was due to depart the Hampshire-based airport for Dubai on Tuesday (March 8th). However, UK transport secretary, Grant Shapps temporarily banned the Global 6500 from carrying passengers and grounded it pending investigations of alleged links to the Russian oil billionaire, Eugene Shvidler.
Shvidler is reportedly a friend of Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea FC who has been sanctioned by the UK government this week. Attempts are being made to sell the west London-based football club.
The Global 6500 is registered to Global Jet Luxembourg with the tail registration: LX-FLY.
A revoked foreign carrier permit and restriction of flying order means the aircraft cannot leave the UK until the National Crime Agency and attorney general, Suella Braverman have completed any investigation.
