SAF One acquires Green Biotrade to strengthen feedstock supply chain


Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) platform developer SAF One announced that acquisition of UAE-based feedstocks and biofuel trading company Green Biotrade.

The company said the acquisition will help strengthen SAF One’s supply chain capabilities to ensure feedstock availability for its upcoming SAF projects.

SAF One announced plans to develop SAF production plant in India during last year. The company is partnering with Indian biofuel technology company GPS Renewables with the aim to develop a SAF production capacity of 20-30m litres using lignocellulosic waste feedstock (dry plant matter) as feedstock in India.

Commenting the acquisition of Green Biotrade, SAF One co-founder and director Deepak Munganahalli said that: “Our acquisition of Green Biotrade represents a significant milestone in our mission to accelerate sustainable aviation fuel production. By integrating Green Biotrade’s extensive trading expertise and robust feedstock network, we are enhancing our ability to source, secure, and manage the critical biomass resources essential for our SAF production. This move underscores our commitment to building a comprehensive and resilient supply chain that can support the growing demand for clean aviation fuels.”

Green Biotrade FZCO specialises in delivering sustainable products to the biofuels industry. The company lists Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME), Used Cooking Oil (UCO) and advanced feedstocks including animal fats, food waste, spent bleaching earth oil etc as key feedstock products they deliver.

In addition, the company also offers wood pellets and agricultural residues sourced through sustainable ways.
