Milano Linate Prime Airport, part of the SEA Prime group, has become the first Italian business aviation airport to offer sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
The SAF, ENI Biojet, is a 20% blend with fossil jet fuel and is produced from waste oils and fats. The blend is available to all customers and operators at the airport as of this month.
Chiara Dorigotti, CEO, SEA Prime said this is an “important step” towards the company’s decarbonisation targets. She added that it is just one part of the firm’s sustainability journey, alongside other measures such as the use of electric ramp equipment and sustainable infrastructures.
The European-based SEA Prime saw a 20% increase in traffic last year, having handled more than 32,600 aircraft movements in 2022, and up a third (33%) on 2019. Milano Prime is the “leading business and general aviation airport manager in Italy,” according to SEA Prime, and has two terminals, 11 hangars, nine lounges, seven meeting rooms and two VIP car parks.
The airport is situated in the capital of Lombardy, Milan, in northern Italy.
