Sheltair begins work on new hangar at Rocky Mountain Airport

Sheltair has broken ground on a new $10m large-cabin class size hangar and office facility, one year on from the opening of its base at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (KBJC).

This new second hangar will mirror the existing hangar with 30,240sqft of space and a 210ft wide and 28.6ft high hangar door allowing Sheltair to accept aircraft such as the G650 and Global Express. At the same time, this new facility will provide 6,000sqft of office space for tenants along with 94 parking spaces.

As a third-generation family business committed to providing outstanding service, we are focused on our guests experience,” said Sheltair president Lisa Holland. “That extraordinary commitment resonates with every Sheltair employee explaining why our Rocky Mountain facility won Aviation International News’ [AIN] Topflight Award for best new FBO in 2020. This celebration is about our dedication to the Sheltair client.”

Jefferson County commissioner, Tracy Kraft-Tharp, said: “I am happy to say that the partnership between Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport and Sheltair has been honest, honourable, and an incredible win-win. This project shows what Sheltair has to offer the airport, the community and, more importantly, the customers of KBJC.”

Whilst visiting the Rocky Mountain base for the official groundbreaking for the new facility, Holland also led a ceremony to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Sheltair’s opening in the region. It was also an opportunity to thank the staff who enabled Sheltair’s Rocky Mountain location to win AIN’s Topflight Award.

Holland said: “While our buildings architecture and accommodations were among the criteria cited in their decision to present this coveted award, the baseline is the dedication of our staff – from the professionals on the ramp to the team behind the counter. Each Sheltair employee shares the core value of service and safety that sets a national standard. This very special recognition from Wilson Leach and the AIN Team is sincerely appreciated as we proceed with our expansion at KBJC.”
