Textron Aviation, the parent company of Cessna, says that it will furlough most of its US-based staff for four weeks.

By definition, a furlough is a temporary period when employees are not required to work. It also means that those employees will not be paid during the furlough period.

In an emailed statement the company said that it would not disclose how many employees, or in which locations that the furloughs will take place, only that it will cover “most” of its US employees.
The furloughs are due to take place in the period between March 23rd, and May 29th.

Textron Aviation said that it is taking the measures to help stop the spread of the coronavirus through social distancing.

“In response to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the company has been taking increased action; with such measures as limiting large group meetings, increasing daily cleaning of its facilities, restricting travel, and cancelling our participation in several global meetings and events,” According to a company statement.

“As tough as this situation is, the safety and well-being of our employees and customers remains our top priority,” said the company.
