Jedsy collaborates with TCS for medical drone deliveries

Jedsy, the Swiss-based drone delivery company, announced this week a collaboration with The Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) for delivering medical laboratory samples, reports a press release. In the rare event of an unplanned landing, the TCS patrol secures the drone and samples.

The Touring Club Switzerland, under the guise of its Drone and Vertical Mobility Academy (DAVMA), is “expanding its commitment to vertical mobility and, in addition to drone pilot training, is now providing operational support for an innovative drone application for the first time,” explains the release.

During expansion throughout Switzerland, the company will oversee Jedsy’s operations in case a difficulty occurs whether it is an unplanned landing due, for example, to air traffic. The patrollers ensure the safety of the drone after landing and, if necessary, transport the medical payload safely to the nearest laboratory.

Herbert Weirather, Founder of Jedsy, commented, “Securing freight via the TCS is an important scaling factor for us. This ensures a nationwide solution.”Jürg Wittwer, Director General of TCS, added, “With this cooperation we can combine our expertise in roadside assistance with the area of vertical mobility. We already run the largest drone pilot school in Switzerland and thus complement our services.”

The TCS and its mobility academy have taken on an international pioneering role in drone services with the founding of the TCS Drone and Vertical Mobility Academy (DAVMA) based in Bern, on behalf of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). Founded in 2022, the aim of DAVMA, is to act as a business developer, think tank and cooperator to advise and support the 244 member organisations of the FIA as they enter the new Advanced Air Mobility sector.

Meanwhile, Jedsy will be expanding over the next several years with the Dr. Risch Group, whose core competence is laboratory medical diagnostics. The group has 24 sites in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Jedsy has developed an innovative technology that allows a cargo drone to land precisely on a window docking station. The “window-to-window” system enables the efficient transport of all kinds of medical samples on a direct route and without traffic. The first routes for deliveries of medical laboratory samples are already being flown in eastern Switzerland.
