Dronamics, a Bulgaria-based drone delivery company and Emirates Post Group (EPG), a leading postal and express delivery provider, have signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to explore cargo drone deliveries around the UAE, reports a press release.

The LOI, signed during the official launch of the Smart and Autonomous Vehicles Industry (SAVI) Cluster in Abu Dhabi, marks the beginning of a pioneering collaboration “to redefine cargo drone delivery in the United Arab Emirates.”

This is another example of UAE’s determination along with the general Middle East region to dominate both the eVTOL and Drone markets moving forward. Only yesterday, news broke that Archer Aviation has chosen the UAE as its first international port of call outside of America.

Meanwhile, SAVI is set to become a global leading smart and autonomous vehicle hub, with dominance across air, land, and sea, attracting relevant OEMs, startups, researchers and talent.

The release explains, “Under the terms of the LOI, EPG will explore and trial Dronamics’ cargo drone service to enable same-day middle-mile and long-range deliveries. Both organizations will collaborate towards developing a comprehensive cargo drone delivery network in the UAE and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.”

Once trialled, EPG aims to “integrate this innovative technology into its logistics network and enable access of the technology to the wider logistics industry.” EPG also intends to be a launch partner of the future Dronamics UAE joint venture to support the expansion of their cargo drone operations in the region.”

This is a game-changer for Dronamics, a company co-funded by the European Union under the prestigious European Innovation Council, Europe’s flagship innovation program. In one agreement, it has the potential to dominate the drone delivery industry in the Middle East. A market with huge potential.

Svilen Rangelov, CEO and Co-Founder of Dronamics, commented, “Partnering with Emirates Post Group provides us with the exciting opportunity to work on our expansion to the Middle East and the United Arab Emirates in particular. Through this agreement we will look to implement our unique middle-mile cargo drone technology on the UAE market in service of EPG, its customers and its universal service mandate — an important step to achieving our vision of enabling same-day delivery for everyone everywhere.”

As part of this LOI, EPG enables Dronamics to conduct Proof-of-Concept (POC) flights in the UAE with at least one drone aircraft by 2024 via its postal and express business. This collaboration supports EPG’s goal to enable the overall delivery supply chain of logistics operations in the UAE.

Abdulla Mohammed Alashram, Group CEO of Emirates Post Group, remarked, “With a shared vision of reshaping the future of the logistics sector, EPG and Dronamics are dedicated to enhancing cargo delivery speed, sustainability, and efficiency by deploying state-of-the-art drone technology. This partnership represents a significant milestone in the advancement of autonomous cargo drone transportation.”
