Nomad Technics performs maintenance work and installs ADS-B Out on a Bombardier CL850

Basel, December 02, 2019 –Nomad Technics performed maintenance work and installed an “ADS-B Out” system on a Bombardier Challenger 850. The Maltese registered aircraft is operated under a Commercial AOC.

The company successfully completed a 6/12mo, 1’000/2’000hrs inspection, modifications and defect rectification on the aircraft. During the ground time the technicians installed an ADS-B Out system on the business jet which was returned to the owner on time.

Automatic Dependent Surveillance -Broadcast (ADS–B) is a surveillance technology in which an aircraft determines its position via satellite navigation enabling it to be tracked. Each aircraft fitted with the ADS-B Out system broadcasts periodically information about itself through an onboard transmitter, including identification, current position, heading, altitude and speed. ADS-B Out provides air traffic controllers with real-time position information.

In most cases this is more accurate than the information available with current radar-based systems. With ADS-B Air Traffic Control (ATC) will be able to position and separate aircraft with improved precision and timing. It can also be received by other aircraft to provide situational awareness and allow self-separation through ADS-B In. EASA mandates, that aircraft flown in Europe are fitted with ADS-B Out by June 7th, 2020.Terry Spruce
