Eve Air Mobility to feature eVTOL mockup and VR experience at Paris Air Show

If Volocopter can do it, why not Eve Air Mobility? It seems the Paris Airshow in 10 days time is creating a healthy competitive spirit from the eVTOL industry, perhaps, not quite seen before.

Just as there will be a VoloCity mockup cabin in the ‘Paris Air Mobility’ Hall 5 on display (please read article below), enticing the visiting public to hop inside and imagine what it may be like to fly in the air taxi, post-launch in Summer 2024, so Eve has gone tit-for-tat with its own mock-up cabin for the public to reside in, alongside the sense of an actual flight using virtual reality. The technology, which requires a special headset, enables people to experience a “unique flying feeling” by interacting with and experiencing what flight on the Eve Aircraft may be like.

The company comes to Paris after a successful year that includes the industry’s largest purchase backlog (2,770 potential orders) for its eVTOL aircraft, with strong interest and an increasing number of customers buying its Urban Air Traffic Management (Urban ATM) software with a comprehensive portfolio of agnostic services and operations solutions, reports a press release.

Andre Stein, co-CEO of Eve, commented,“The Paris Air Show brings together aviation’s global players and showcases the biggest news and the latest advances in the aerospace sector. The company comes to Paris with tremendous momentum as we continue the development of our eVTOL, including progressing toward key program milestones.”

Eve’s mock-up cabin will make its first appearance in Paris as part of a world tour that began last Summer at the Farnborough Air Show. “The cabin,” explains the release, “showcases Eve’s human-centred design, a quiet, efficient, and sustainable zero-emission eVTOL, and explores its internal features.”

It goes on, “The vehicle design uses a conventional wing with eight rotors fixed around it, providing vertical take-off and landing capabilities in a simple lift-plus-cruise design, with an accessible seat configuration for a pilot and four passengers.”

Andre Stein

Stein continued, “Eve’s current backlog includes a client base spread around five continents and multiple business models. This year’s Paris Airshow will be a great opportunity to showcase our solutions while also working to champion sustainable electric Urban Air Mobility on a global stage.”

Apart from the mock-up display, members of Eve’s leadership team, like Volocopter, will participate in multiple discussions during the Airshow. For example, Stein will join a panel on new technologies at ISTAT Sustainability Symposium and also give a fireside chat to discuss Eve’s Concepts of Operations to make advanced air mobility a reality.

Meanwhile, David Rottblatt, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Government Affairs, will discuss the future of airspace and the technology and infrastructure required to enable eVTOL flights worldwide.
