Chinese battery maker, Gotion, is collaborating with EHang to develop power products for the company’s electric autonomous aerial vehicles (AAVs), reports chinadaily.com.

Gotion is backed by global car manufacturer, Volkswagen. The two companies are to co-develop battery cells, battery packs, storage systems as well as charging facilities for EHang’s aircraft.

Based in Hefei and founded in 2014 by Zhen Li, Gotion is one of the leading power battery makers in China. German car-maker, Volkswagen, is its majority stake holder. The energy supplier has 45 employees.

Gotion remarked that the deal with EHang marks an important step for the company to enter the Low-Altitude Civil Aviation Industry. EHang’s EH-216S AAV was awarded the world’s first Type certificate by the CAAC in December 2023.
