AEM is pleased to announce that, effective August 22, 2022, Taylor Wylie has been appointed general manager. Wylie, along with AEM’s leadership team, will be responsible for continuing the further growth of AEM.

Ross Love, the executive chairman of SMS Monitoring Systems PCL (SMS) says, “since assuming the role as executive chairman of SMS I have been greatly impressed by Brian’s leadership of AEM, particularly in relation to its collegiate, professional, and energetic culture and its increasingly strong commercial performance. I am delighted that he will continue to contribute as a Director of SMS as we support the growth of this business and the further commercialization of some of our unique technologies and service propositions.”

During a career that has spanned more than 35 years, Wall a skilled executive has held senior leadership positions for a variety of organizations. Joining AEM in 2015 he became CEO of the organization in 2019.

Wall reflects, “as a young man at the age of 16, I received my pilot’s licence and eventually became a commercial pilot. A dream I’ve had since I was a young boy flying with my uncle. My passion for flying has never waivered and when the opportunity came to join AEM as VP Operations, I was excited beyond imagination. To be able to come full circle from my younger years as a pilot and then to finish my working career in aerospace has been quite simply, a dream come true.”

Above all, Wall has built a strong leadership team at the organization, and with a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. AEM will continue to be able to meet and exceed customers’ needs well into the future.
Wylie, who has most recently been serving as operations manager at AEM, has over 15 years experience in avionics and manufacturing operations. He comes to the role with extensive knowledge of AEM’s operations and processes.

“I am extremely excited to be accepting the baton from Brian at this time of opportunity for AEM. With a people first attitude, Brian has been instrumental in building a strong culture of collaboration within AEM and it is with the knowledge that our employees are one team working together towards our goals that makes me excited to take on this new position and for the future of AEM,” says Wylie.

After earning his Electrical Engineering Technologist certificate from Okanagan College, Wylie began his career at Northern Airborne Technology as an Electrical Technician. Joining AEM in the early days of the company’s inception, Wylie has diversified his knowledge of the organization by holding a range of roles across AEM including, repair technician, QA inspector, production control technologist, materials supervisor and management trainee.

“Taylor and I have been working closely together for the last few years, and I’m happy to pass him the torch. I’m confident in his knowledge of AEM and for his ability to take the lead going forward,” says Wall.

Throughout his career, Wylie continues to demonstrate a passion for learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement. It is these traits that have given him the opportunity to advance in his career, and how he would like to continue to lead and inspire others.

“The future for AEM is incredibly bright, robust, and responsive. AEM is a stand-out organization whose reputation continues to grow with quality products that continue to exceed customers’ expectations. I couldn’t be more grateful for having had the opportunity to lead AEM on this sometimes challenging, but more often – rewarding journey,” says Wall.
