Boston MedFlight, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that for 37 years has provided emergency critical care medical transport to patients in need by air and ground, recently announced that FY22 was its busiest year since its inception in 1985. Their teams provided expert, safe and efficient critical care transport to 6,177 patients in the fiscal year that ended on September 30th.
This is a nine percent increase in patient transports over FY21.
Boston MedFlight is the region’s primary provider of critical care transport to the most critically ill and injured infants, children, and adults by air and by critical care ground ambulances. It has provided emergency transport to more than 93,000 patients since its inception in 1985. The nonprofit also provided over $7.2 million last year in free and unreimbursed care to patients without regard for their insurance status or ability to pay.
“We transported an average of seventeen patients every 24 hours this past year. Our crews continue to do amazing work caring for patients on what is often the worst day of their lives,” said Maura Hughes, CEO of Boston MedFlight. “Thanks to our entire team who contribute to our nonprofit mission every day.”
