Girls in Aviation Day set for Sept. 23 at American Helicopter Museum

The American Helicopter Museum and Education Center (AHMEC) presents Girls in Aviation Day on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Packed with activities, speakers and groups, the event promises to engage and enlighten young women and girls interested in the exciting field of aviation.

Highlights will entail a school-to-career panel hosted by the Federal Aviation Administration, a school-to-career panel hosted by the Women in Aviation International Philadelphia Chapter, and activity tables located throughout the museum.

The Chester County Remote Control Club will demonstrate simulators and other remote controlled flight models. The Mobile Mess Hall food truck will have great food available to purchase from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

“We’re grateful to the FAA [Federal Aviation Administration] and WAI [Women in Aviation International] Philadelphia Chapter for helping the museum be able to offer this information to girls and young women who want to learn about aviation and the possibilities of education and employment in the industry,” said Paul Taylor, AHMEC’s educational programs director.

“We are proud to add this day alongside our Girls in Science and Technology (GIST) program to further our commitment to the future of all generations.

The event is free with the cost of admission. Contact AHMEC at 610-436-9600 or see the website for more information.
