Advanced air mobility (AAM) industry collaboration platform, Greenbird welcomes Australia’s leading aerospace and composite materials manufacturer, Quickstep.

Quickstep is the largest independent aerospace composite business in Australia, with facilities in Sydney, Geelong, Melbourne and overseas, in Dallas, Texas. Quickstep has the facilities and capabilities to manufacture and support complex aerospace composite structures and components globally.

Quickstep’s capabilities cover the entire aerospace composites value stream – from design and manufacturing to maintenance, repair and overhaul and sustainment. Currently, Quickstep supports some of the world’s most trusted aircraft manufacturers and operators including Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and the Qantas Group.

Quickstep has recently made efforts to move into the AAM sector, supporting new aircraft development by providing start-ups with the means to move from prototype to production in Australia.

With the addition of Quickstep, Greenbird now has 15 ecosystem partners, including AVISTRA, Aviation Projects, Skyports (UK), Archerfield Airport Corporation, Griffith University, AMSL Aero, Nautilus Aviation, Aviator Group, h2 energy company, Electro.Aero, AvLogix Solutions, FlyFreely, Sigma Aerospace and Swan River Seaplanes.

Greenbird expects to announce additional partners in the coming weeks.

Greenbird Managing Director, Sara Hales said, “We are pleased to welcome Quickstep to the Greenbird team. Having on board an Australian based manufacturing organisation, with such considerable capabilities, is a major step to advancing AAM in Australia.”

She said, “Australia is our backyard, its where we live and where we work. We want to see Australia making strides in the aviation and aerospace sector by being one of the first mover locations for AAM globally. Australia is making strong progress with the recent release by CASA of the AAM Strategic Regulatory Roadmap providing clarity and certainty around the future development and timing of the essential regulatory framework.”

She said, “Working with our members we can connect original equipment manufacturers with organisations like Quickstep to progress the development of Australian-made eVTOLs.”

Quickstep applied composites executive general manager, Steve Osborne said, “As Australia’s leading independent aerospace composites manufacturer, we have a key role to play in growing this sector. Becoming a part of the Greenbird team allows us to work with likeminded industry experts who have the same vision of making AAM a success in Australia.”

Mr. Osborne said, “This rapidly growing aviation sector has aerospace manufacturing at its core and provides a massive opportunity for Quickstep and the broader Australian supply chain, from manufacturing through to aircraft operations. The work the Greenbird team is doing is critical to ensuring Australia keeps pace with this global aviation revolution.”

Greenbird is bringing together international expertise and local supply chain partners to develop and enable local industry capability in the AAM sector. The industry is ready and backing the push for AAM in Australia.

Led by trusted airport and aviation industry advisors, AVISTRA, Greenbird is dedicated to facilitating the entry and growth of the AAM industry in Australia.
