Last month, instructors and owners from across the country traveled to Oregon to participate in the Helicopteres Guimbal instructor factory training, hosted jointly by Guimbal and Precision Support Services, LLC.

Precision is the U.S. distributor and service center for the Cabri G2. This training, accompanied by the recent release of the Flight Instructor Guide by Guimbal, is designed to continue Guimbal’s unparalleled customer support in both the operation and maintenance of the Guimbal line.

The goal of the instructor factory training, provided by Guimbal Factory Pilots and designed in partnership with Guimbal’s distributors from across the world, is to both cement best practices for training in the G2 and address potential mistakes commonly seen in flight training.

When a manufacturer has designed an aircraft for use in the training sphere, it isn’t enough to simply provide the normal materials used in aircraft familiarization training.

According to Sarah Brazel, Precision’s manager for Guimbal sales and support, “Guimbal doesn’t just want to make the safest trainer on the market, they want the people flying their aircraft to also be the safest pilots — this is why they prioritize training and use their extensive experience and real-world data from their operators to continually update and train operators in best practices.”

The Flight Instructor Guide was developed from data used in the instructor factory training (IFT) curriculum and makes it accessible to all G2 instructors. The best way to implement this guide is for instructors to train with Guimbal factory pilots and then, using the “train the trainer” philosophy, share with their team and use as training for all new instructors.

“As an operator of many different aircraft, we understand no two aircraft are the same and they all require a tailored approach. Solid training, especially when talking about the flight training realm which has its unique challenges, is an investment in the safety of students, instructors, aircraft, and the future of the Guimbal product,” said David Rath, CEO of Precision.

Guimbal and Precision plan to host a U.S. based version of this course yearly at Precision in McMinnville, Oregon. As the largest G2 market in the world, Precision and Guimbal make training opportunities a priority for all North American operators.
