Guimbal, P&WC come out on top in Vertical’s 2021 helicopter industry survey

Hélicoptères Guimbal and Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) have recorded the highest marks in Vertical Magazine’s annual Helicopter and Engine Manufacturers Survey — the industry’s leading measure of OEM performance in customer support.

The results, revealed in Vertical’s recently-released July issue, saw Guimbal score the highest among the airframe manufacturers, with Robinson Helicopter close behind. Bell led the way among OEMs that make only turbine-powered helicopters.

P&WC was closely followed by Safran as the top-performing engine manufacturers.

A record-setting 1,773 respondents took part in this year’s survey — Vertical’s seventh annual edition — and despite the challenges of working within the “new normal” of life during a global pandemic, many OEMs saw their scores hold steady or even increase from the previous year.

“It’s been a period of unprecedented challenges for the industry, but our survey results show how well some of the OEMs have responded, and how impressed those working on the front lines of the industry have been with that support,” said Vertical publisher Mike Reyno. “It’s a great illustration, once again, of the ingenuity, creativity, and drive to succeed that makes this such a special industry.”

The full results, broken down by manufacturer and including OEM responses to common complaints, can be seen in Vertical’July issue.

“Thanks to all those who took the time to complete the survey, and thanks to the OEMs for listening and responding to reader concerns,” added Reyno.
