HAI congratulates Jennifer Homendy as new NTSB chair


Helicopter Association International (HAI) is pleased to congratulate the Honorable Jennifer Homendy on her confirmation Monday as chair of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

With Senate confirmation, Homendy becomes the NTSB’s 15th chair, a position she will hold for a period of two years.

Homendy took the oath of office as the 44th member of the NTSB on Aug. 20, 2018, and was unanimously reconfirmed by the Senate on Aug. 1, 2019, for a five-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2024. During her tenure, she has contributed significant expertise in the safety of railroads, pipelines, and hazardous materials in all modes of transportation.

From 2004 to 2018, Homendy served as the Democratic Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials, which is under the jurisdiction of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure of the US House of Representatives. She previously held positions with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the Transportation Trades Department of the AFL-CIO, and the American Iron and Steel Institute.
