Flight Sim Coach LLC has announced the addition of a helicopter flight instructor to their team of remote flight simulator coaches.

Flight Sim Coach connects both real-world pilots and flight simulator enthusiasts to experienced certified flight instructors who specialize in providing paid remote coaching services.

Dave Walley from New Zealand was selected to offer helicopter coaching through Flight Sim Coach. He has over 10,000 hours of flight experience in everything from helicopters to 737s to blimps, and a passion for using flight simulation to enhance safety.

While Flight Sim Coach specializes in providing coaching that is custom-tailored to each client’s needs, they are offering a predefined transition syllabus for pilots coming from fixed-wing aircraft.

“Dave makes an outstanding addition to our instructor team,” says Mike Catalfamo, founder of Flight Sim Coach. “His passion for helicopters is unmistakable, and I’m excited to bring his expertise to pilots around the world so they can see how exciting and rewarding the world of helicopters can be.”

Walley says, “online flight instruction is the way of the future, and I’m fascinated by its potential, not only for ab-initio and scenario-based training, but also for teaching Crew Resource Management (CRM) and advanced human factors. I especially love teaching people with no previous flight experience the thrill of flying helicopters, as well as fixed-wing pilots who want to try their hand at rotary.”

While remote coaching is no substitute for in-aircraft instruction and does not count as logable hours, real-world helicopter student pilots can benefit from practicing numerous skills in the comfort of their own homes with expert guidance. Aside from the potential cost savings, this allows expensive in-aircraft time to be used in ways that more effectively translate to improved safety and training quality.

The service is accessible to simmers with even the most basic hardware. The remote coaching typically takes place using basic VoIP/screen sharing software, allowing the CFI to see everything needed to provide coaching to the client, with no specialized software or hardware required.
