IAWA's free virtual event aims to inspire women in aviation worldwide

Inspiring women in aviation and aerospace worldwide plus those thinking of a career in the sectors is the aim of the International Aviation Women’s Association’s (IAWA’s) free virtual event, the General Aviation Leadership Forum, on June 25th 2020.

US Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, Airbus chief technical Grazia Vittadini, a former rocket scientist and five US Air Force fighter pilots will join a stellar cast of more than 100 speakers dedicated to sharing inspirational stories, education and advice about career development and opportunities. Also taking part will be leaders in flight training, professional development and conative diversity.

IAWA focuses on inspiring younger women, training rising leaders and connecting women within a professional network. Similarly, this event is designed to connect, inspire and lead, according to René Banglesdorf, CEO Charlie Bravo Aviation and IAWA Advisory Board member.

‘Lack of female role models’

“Based on a ground-breaking study IAWA conducted with Korn Ferry last year, women in aviation identified a lack of female role models and men lamented that the talent pool does not have visible candidates for leadership roles,” Banglesdorf told Corporate Jet Investor. “This event, with more than 100 talented speakers and panellists from aviation disciplines around the world, seeks to change both deterrents.

“There are knowledgeable, talented women in this industry, and we are illuminating that in hopes that there will soon be more than the 5-10% we see now,” said Banglesdorf, who chairs the event.

Now in its third year, the all-aviation leadership event is exclusively organised and presented by women with aviation booths from industry-leading companies.

Leaders in aviation and aerospace

Intended for leaders in the global aviation and aerospace sectors plus university students considering career opportunities, the event offers free 24-hour access to the keynote sessions, panels and exhibition booths and the ability to interact with all participants. A paid-for VIP pass, priced at $147, offers access on the day, plus unlimited access to all content for three months from June 25th 2020. Key documents at the virtual event can be downloaded to keep.

The event will open its virtual doors between 9:00am EST and 5:00pm EST on June 25th 2020.

Meanwhile, more information about the event is available here.
