Norsk e-Fuel announced that it has partnered with Amsterdam-based environmental commodities trading and climate solution provider STX Group to secure biogenic CO2 deliveries to future Norsk e-Fuel production sites for sites across the Nordics.

“We are excited to partner with STX Group as a major aggregator of renewable gases, securing additional sources of biogenic CO2, a crucial element for our e-fuel production process,” said Karl Hauptmeier, CEO, Norsk e-Fuel.

Norsk is targeting to secure around 700,000 tons of CO2 by 2030 to be utilised as feedstock towards production of drop-in ready e-fuels primarily for the aviation sector.

“This partnership with Norsk e-Fuel marks a significant step forward in our commitment to driving long-term sustainability,” said Sead Keric, managing partner of renewable gas, STX Group.

“By combining our growing expertise in CO2 sourcing and Norsk e-Fuel’s pioneering efforts in e-fuels production, we can create a solution that benefits the environment and contributes to a low-carbon economy.”

Earlier in March, the Nordic e-fuel company also signed an agreement with Carbon Centric for CO2 supply and distribution. Under the agreement, Carbon Centric will be responsible for the production and delivery of CO2 to Norsk e-Fuel’s Alpha plant in Mosjøen in Northern Norway.

Norsk is currently working on developing Alpha Plan with a production capacity of 50m litres (40,000 tons). The construction on the plant is scheduled to begin from 2025 onwards with full-scale production likely to start in 2026.

The producer already has offtake agreements in place with two international airlines including  Norwegian Air Shuttle and Cargolux Airlines International S.A from 2026 onwards.

The company is also planning to expand its SAF production beyond the Alpha site’s capacity from 2030 onwards.
