Priority 1 Air Rescue (P1AR), a world leader in helicopter search-and-rescue (SAR) mission operational support and training, announced that it has completed a live flight training course providing specialized dynamic hoisting and emergency procedures training for the United States Air Force’s 55th Rescue Squadron “Night Hawks” located in Tucson at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

Course participants included USAF Special Mission Aviators (SMAs), Pararescue teams, and CSAR Pilots, operating two HH60G helicopters simultaneously during the entire live flight portion of the training. The course included instructor led ground school, static aircraft practice, P1AR instructor demonstrations operating the Goodrich and Breeze Eastern hoist systems, participating as rescue specialists or survivors on the hoist hook, and providing comprehensive hoist emergency procedures flight training relating to either environmental or helicopter rotor-flow dynamics causing spins and pendulums, and then concluding with whole crew based hoisting evolutions.

“It is a tremendous privilege to have the opportunity to work together with the United States Air Force “Night Hawks,” said Brad Matheson, President of Priority 1 Air Rescue. An additional active-duty USAF CSAR squadron recently contracted P1AR to provide helicopter hoist training at the Search and Rescue Tactical Training Academy (SART/TAC) located in Mesa Arizona where course participants utilized P1AR’s state of the art Advanced Aircrew Mission Simulator (AAMS) and hoist procedural training tower configured for the HH60G/W.

“We are very committed to continuing to provide our training support services for their exceptionally professional aircrews and teams through our proven live flight and synthetic training solutions and further enhance their CSAR mission by increasing flight safety, mission capability, and aircrew survivability.”
