RTX donates to Indian Covid-19 relief effort

Raytheon Technologies (RTX), the parent company of Pratt & Whitney and Collins Aerospace, is donating 1,000 oxygen concentrators through the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum as the country deals with a second wave of Covid-19 cases.

RTX has nearly 5,000 employees across the two companies in India, Pratt & Whitney’s president and head of country, Ashmita Sethi said: “We need a global response to tackle India’s second wave of Covid-19 infections. The aerospace industry has been on the frontlines, with our military and airline customers transporting vaccines, oxygen, and medicines with urgency.”

For more than seven decades, Pratt & Whitney has provided support to India’s civil and military aviation. Its engines are used on more than 680 turboprop, turbofan, and turboshaft aircraft in the country.

In addition to the oxygen concentrators, teams across RTX are “leveraging resources” and using supply chains to provide personal protective equipment to employees and local communities in India.

It will also match employee donations until May 22nd for all non profit organisations that are supporting the Covid-19 relief effort. Meanwhile, RTX said it will continue to look for other ways to support India as it deals with a second wave of infections.
