Spain's Camper joins DHL GoGreen Plus SAF program

DHL Express Spain announced that it has onboarded Spanish footwear company Camper to its DHL Express’ GoGreen Plus program to help the company reduce its carbon emissions from international air shipments by 30% in 2024.

“Both DHL Express and Camper are working to achieve our sustainability goals across the business and taking an integrated approach to achieving this. We have been collaborating for more than two decades and this new step implies the reinforcement of our strong, continuous and mutual commitment to innovation, digitalisation and sustainability from the manufacture of a product to its arrival at the consumer,” says Miguel Borrás, managing director, DHL Express Spain.

As part of the program, the Mallorcan family business will utilise DHL’s international parcel service to reduce carbon emissions associated with shipments through the use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) produced from alternative feedstocks such as waste oils, waste, waste, corn or hydrogen.

“Achieving climate neutrality is an essential goal in our sustainability strategy … Meeting these goals is ambitious and requires the active participation of all actors in the company’s value chain, as well as the formation of alliances with those who share similar goals. In this context, we would like to highlight the collaboration between DHL Express and Camper,” said Leticia Sandoval, ESG impact manager, Camper.

DHL Express launched GoGreen Plus in early 2023 in collaboration with bp and Neste. The parcel service secured 830m litres of SAF by 2026 from these SAF producers.

In October last year, the company signed the seven-year agreement with World Energy to accelerate the decarbonisation of air logistics with the purchase of around 668m litres of SAFc fuel.
