The Hangar Z Podcast: How to Helicopter with Faith Ortega

In episode 82 of The Hangar Z Podcast, Faith Ortega talks about earning her airframe and powerplant certification through Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, where she graduated with a bachelor of applied science degree in aviation technologies with a specialization in helicopters.

Ortega began her career as an A&P working for Helicopters Inc., which is heavily involved in the electronic news gathering (ENG) industry. After gaining vast experience at Helicopters Inc., Ortega joined the public safety aviation community as a HEMS base mechanic.

Ortega has done a lot of work through her social media platform — How to Helicopter — to promote the work being done by maintenance technicians and to help recruit the next generation.
