A new safety video from the Vuichard Recovery Aviation Safety Foundation has debuted at European Rotors 2023 in Madrid, Spain.
The video, presented by foundation president Claude Vuichard, is titled: “How to avoid a main rotor collision with obstacles.”
Vuichard presented the video Nov. 29 in the Vertical Aviation Safety Team (VAST) European Safety Promotion Network-Rotorcraft (ESPN-R) workshop at European Rotors.
It explains how an optical illusion can lead to accidents, and how these accidents can be prevented.
“This video is a must-see for all helicopter pilots worldwide,” Vuichard said in a statement.

Vuichard Recovery Aviation Safety Foundation is based in Fribourg, Switzerland. As president, Claude Vuichard has pilot experience dating back to 1980, with more than 17,000 flight hours and 20 different aircraft types, according to his website.
He is developer of the Vuichard Recovery Technique, and works as a helicopter safety expert, keynote speaker, aviation consultant and flight instructor for specialized training.
