Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund opens 2023 scholarship season

The Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc. is proud to announce the opening of the 2023 scholarship season. These scholarships advance the helicopter industry by strengthening the talent pool and increasing diversity.

Female aviators can apply for scholarships valued at more than $110,000 for helicopter flight training and education. Awards are available for both experienced and newly rated pilots.

This year, scholarship sponsors include Airbus, Bristow Helicopters, Central Oregon Community College, Colorado Highland Helicopters, Erickson, FlightSafety International, Garmin, Leading Edge Flight Academy, MD Helicopters, Oregon Aero, PHI Aviation, Robinson Helicopter Company, Southern Utah University, Survival Systems USA, Volo Mission and many private individuals. Examples include classes in vertical reference, safety training, software use, commercial flight training, a helicopter add-on rating, helicopter initial rating, helicopter instrument rating, and airframe specific courses.

Scholarship details are available at https://whirlygirls.org/current-scholarship-offerings/. Applications should be completed online and are due Oct. 2, 2022. Scholarships will be awarded in March 2023 at the Annual Whirly-Girls Awards Banquet at HAI Heli-Expo in Atlanta, Georgia.

Whirly-Girls International is a non-profit, educational, and charitable organization dedicated to advancing women in the helicopter aviation industry. The Whirly-Girls Scholarship Fund, Inc. (“WGSF”) was incorporated in 1974 to administer the scholarship funds raised by the Whirly-Girls and their associates and is a federally tax exempt 501(c)(3) public charity. The scholarship program has grown from a single $500 scholarship in 1968 to a wide range of training and development scholarships.
