EHang completes first-ever autonomous flight in Israel

EHang, the Chinese eVTOL creator, has conducted the first-ever autonomous demonstration flight in Israel using its EH216-S autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV).

The company announced plans to conduct flight tests in the Middle Eastern country in May 2023. It was reported that Israeli aviation company Cando Drones would conduct the demonstrations with its subsidiary Dronery Fly.

The electric aircraft can carry two passengers and travel at heights of 500 meters and speeds of 130 kph.

In a post on Twitter, EHang expressed its gratitude to all parties involved in the historic moment.

“Yes, we fly! This time Israel! Our EH216-S AAV expanded its footprint of flight demonstrations to Israel, which also marks the first autonomous #eVTOL demo flights within Israel! A big THANK YOU to the Civil Aviation Authority of Israel, Israel National Drone Initiative, Dronery Fly, and Cando Drones!” the Guangzhou-based firm tweeted.

For EHang, this is the latest in a series of achievements for the company as earlier in June, the company announced its EH216 eVTOL had completed 37,000 test flights as of May 2023.

In May 2023, the electric aircraft manufacturer made a string of strategic moves as it unveiled plans to develop Urban Air Mobility (UAM) in Latin America and build the first electric aircraft manufacturing facility in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
