FAA certification allows longer life for LORD tension torsion strap

LORD Corporation — a leader in the management of vibration, noise and motion control — obtained approval this month from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to extend the life of its Bell 206 tension torsion (TT) strap from a three- to four-year calendar life. There is no change on the limitation of 1,200 flight hours.

“This extension is yet one more way our customers can enjoy all the savings associated with buying direct, while avoiding the risks and uncertainties that often come with STC parts,” said Rodolphe Leroy, manager of global sales, business development and marketing, LORD Corporation. “LORD is the supplemental type certificate (STC) holder, designer and manufacturer of the TT strap Bell supplies.”

An aerospace innovator, LORD has manufactured TT straps for more than 35 years and are in service on more than 20 different aircraft models.

The TT strap, which attaches a helicopter’s rotor blade to the hub, allows blade feathering while reacting to the centrifugal load and accommodates the resultant flapping of the blades.

The straps are in stock and available for immediate delivery.
