New law business DG Aviation Law is launching at “the perfect time” to help clients resolve legal challenges arising from the global Covid-19 pandemic and Brexit, according to its founder Diego Garrigues.
“The combination of Covid-19 and Brexit meant that this was the perfect time to launch a new business venture,” Diego Garrigues told Corporate Jet Investor. “After an amazing five years as a partner at The Air Law Firm, I am looking forward to new challenges. In my new venture I will continue to provide tailored expert legal advice to the aviation industry but under my own name.”
Diego Garrigues is determined to offer a bespoke service to aviation industry professionals. “It will be a truly personalised service at the most senior level,” he said. “I will be applying more than 20 years’ experience in the aviation industry to aircraft transactions, regulatory matters and dispute resolution.”
His expertise covers advice on ownership structures and the negotiation and drafting of loan, lease and purchase agreements, security documentation and ancillary documents, including registration applications, legal opinions and conditions precedent for delivery, insurance and escrow arrangements. Garrigues also has experience in employment and corporate law and commercial agreements, including airline operating leases and maintenance contracts.
The aviation industry has been hard hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, and clients need expertise and experience to protect their businesses, he said. “I have successfully negotiated various aircraft lease agreements and handled various disputes with force majeure terms and Covid-19 at the centre of them.”
Asked how he will measure the success of his new business, Garrigues replied: “By seeing clients come back.” Diego Garrigues’ DG Aviation Law is operating from offices at London Heathrow Airport and Soho London.
